Ashanti has a rep?
12 09 2007Ashanti – NAY
Jumping on the Britney Bashing Bandwagon, Ashanti had wise wor….errr facial expressions for everyone’s favorite pop sensation, Britney. According to MSN Entertainment:
When the paper asked her what she thought of Brit-Brit’s blah bump-and-grind, she “laughed, rolled her eyes and walked away” before her rep stepped in and said she had no comment.
Now forgive me if im wrong but i’m almost positive that earlier this year Forbes listed Britney as having a net worth of $100 million. I also believe that the last thing that Ashanti did was “John Tucker Must Die.” Im really just in awe that Ashanti has a rep. Ashanti, when you are able to make as much money as Britney, then you can scoff but for now, keep your fake high notes and face gestures to your 15 or so fans.

Will somebody tell Dance Dance Dancers that there is no Revolution?
12 09 2007DDR – NAY
This needs to stop. Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) for those who dont know is an arcade game that started in Japan. It features a large screen with a “dance pad” that consists of 4 arrows (up, ,down, left, and right) where people “gyrate disturbingly and “dance” to blasting, annoying and repetitive “J-pop” (porn-style techno, but with Japanese lyrics)”(taken fromThe T Zone).
Now my complaint is not towards the game itself. Its those who play the game. Anyone who knows this game, knows the culture it has spawned. There is a new breed of adolescent who swarm around these machines inside any arcade you go to. You know them, they were your school’s “goths” and “loners.” They are now unfit, pompus kids who think the Japanese techno pop that they dance to is better then your choice of music (be it hip hop, rap, or rock). You do not learn how to dance while playing this game, you infact learn to stomp in time. Spectators will see that overweight kids can move in ways that seem to break all laws of physics. They also look down on people who never really tried the game out and decide to play on the “easy” difficulty. All of a sudden, Japanese culture is better then our crazy American one. You can also smell these teens from a mile away. DDR-ers are also infamous for not showering for days at a time.
Now i’m all for people having a hobby, and creating a culture around it, but seriously kids, dont be jerks about it and soap is our friend. I play video games, I enjoy the occational trip to the arcade, but the minute I see a DDR machine, I cringe.
